It had always been kept outside and had developed quite a bit of patina. The metal base itself was still in very good condition, but the top was anything but presentable.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-3-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217692\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To ensure better adhesion for the subsequent coats, I also primed the panel. For this, I used Bonding BOSS in white by Dixie Belle\u2014a primer that combines a bonding primer and a sealer in one product. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-4-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217690\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The base color for my crackle effect is Dixie Belle\u2019s chalk mineral paint in Midnight Sky. Since it\u2019s only for the crackle effect, one coat is enough for me here. I\u2019m usually a brush person and do everything with a brush, but for this surface, I used a roller for a change. I let the paint dry thoroughly.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-5-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217688\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now it&#8217;s time for Dixie Belle&#8217;s Crackle Medium. As you can see, I&#8217;m not exactly gentle with it. I just poured it on and spread it with the roller, since the table is pretty big.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217686\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-6-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217686\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217684\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-7-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217684\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217682\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-8-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217682\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the next coat, I\u2019m also using the color \u201cDrop Cloth\u201d from Dixie Belle. Since I\u2019ll be working with decoupage, I\u2019ve chosen a white shade so that the colors of the paper will really stand out later. I\u2019m careful not to apply too many layers of paint so that the cracks\u2014which form very quickly\u2014aren\u2019t covered up by paint again.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diluting the paint with water is usually not necessary if you want complete coverage. Since I&#8217;m working on a large surface, I chose this technique because it allows me to spread the paint more quickly. I also used a wide-bristled brush, the Big Daddy Brush from Belles &amp; Whistles.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217678\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-10-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217678\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217676\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-11-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217676\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217674\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-12-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217674\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217672\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-13-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217672\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decoupage paper is &#8220;Basket of Roses&#8221; by Posh Chalk. For this project, I need two DIN A1-sized sheets. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-15-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217668\" style=\"width:772px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I dampen the edges with water and then peel them away. That way, the seams won&#8217;t be as noticeable later. You can also use it to mix pigments, apply decoupage paper, and seal your projects. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-5 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217654\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-22-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217654\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217656\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-21-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217656\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I work on large-scale decoupage projects, I start by \u201cthrowing down an anchor,\u201d so to speak, and securing one end with the medium. That keeps the paper in place so it can\u2019t slip. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-23-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217652\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I work my way through it bit by bit so that I have enough time to massage out the wrinkles and bubbles. To do this, I simply use a crumpled piece of plastic wrap that I&#8217;ve formed into a ball. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-6 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217650\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-24-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217650\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217648\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-25-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217648\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m going to add a little accent to the edge of the table. For this, I&#8217;m using WoodUbend&#8217;s Trim TR716, which is 2.15 m long.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-26-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217646\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I trim the ends so that I can fit them together and the seams will be as inconspicuous as possible later on.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-27-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217644\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This time, I\u2019m using Titebond\u2019s waterproof wood glue to attach the trim. Here, too, I work in sections for better control: heat the trim, apply wood glue to the project, position the trim, and press it firmly into place. I continue working this way until everything is attached and the trim has hugged the curves of the edge. Finally, I sanded the edges of the trim a little so that they blend smoothly and evenly into the project.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-7 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217642\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-28-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217642\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217640\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-29-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217640\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now comes the fun part. Since the decoupage paper doesn\u2019t cover the entire surface of the table, we\u2019ll now work on the edges. For this, I chose Dixie Belle\u2019s chalk mineral paints in the colors Putty, Coffee Bean, and Chocolate. A quick tip: Seal the decoupage before you start painting it. That way, you can easily remove the paint if you\u2019re not happy with a spot. I used the stippling technique to achieve a soft color transition. Since more layers are coming, I sealed this layer as well.      <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-8 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217638\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-30-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217638\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217636\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-31-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217636\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217634\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-32-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217634\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once it&#8217;s dry, I work with the &#8220;Dainty Trellis&#8221; stencil from Posh Chalk and use the pigments Red Magenta, Byzantine Gold, and Diamond Gold\u2014also from Posh Chalk. I mix these using the Posh Chalk Infusor. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-9 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217632\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-33-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217632\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217630\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-34-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217630\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When stenciling, I use all three colors and let them blend into one another. Since I only want to apply the stencil around the roses, I lift it up every now and then to see how far I can go. To keep it from slipping, I hold it in place with my other hand.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-10 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217628\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-35-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217628\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217626\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-36-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217626\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the trim, I choose the Dark Green Metallic Paste to match the base of the Posh Chalk table. I thin it with a little water so it\u2019s less paste-like when applying. Once dry, I highlight the entire piece with the remaining pigment mixtures using the dry-brushing technique.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-11 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217624\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-37-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217624\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217622\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-38-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217622\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"217620\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-39-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217620\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is actually the first time I\u2019ve worked with casting resin. And to start with such a large surface area right away\u2026 that\u2019s what I thought afterward, too. But you know me: I don\u2019t like to take the easy way out. I\u2019m using ArtResin and am following the manufacturer\u2019s and safety guidelines for mixing, application, and personal protective equipment.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/elfen-und-helden.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/custom-40-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217618\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, I leveled the table using a spirit level. Then I mixed the casting resin according to the manufacturer\u2019s instructions and spread it evenly over the table.
