If you want to turn a piece of furniture into a truly unique piece, it all starts with the right preparation – because this is where you decide whether your project will shine or simply look nice.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. clean thoroughly – for a fresh start.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the colors – whether from Dixie Belle, Miss Lillian’s or Daydream Apothecary – also last without much fanfare. But let’s be honest: you can also eat from a dirty plate … do you really want that? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, every paint project starts with a thorough clean. Especially with beloved found objects, dirt, grease and invisible residue accumulate over the years – and this can prevent your paint from adhering properly. White Lightning, Pristine Clean or Terra Clean from Dixie Belle break through these layers effortlessly. Mix them with water or use the ready-to-use version, wipe the furniture thoroughly – and most importantly: clean with clear water. Only when everything is clean can the magic begin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. sanding – give your paint something to hold on to.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A light <\/strong>sanding creates the perfect base. Use 120-150 grit sandpaper to gently roughen the surface. It is usually enough to simply run the sandpaper over your project by hand, like wiping with a cloth. This gives your paint grip – it bonds with the surface and stays where you want it. Smooth or glossy surfaces in particular need special attention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And afterwards? Dust-free is a must! A lint-free cloth or a tacky cloth will do a wonderful job here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

EXTRA TIP<\/strong> \ud83d\udca1 Why don’t I sand first and then clean? Because otherwise I’ll work old dirt or fine particles into the surface when sanding – and I really don’t want that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. priming – when the going gets tough.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not every piece of furniture is easy to conquer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

High gloss, laminate or heavily sealed surfaces? No problem with Bonding BOSS. The special primer provides extra adhesion and also reliably blocks penetrating stains such as wood tannins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also use it to eliminate unpleasant odors. Particularly practical if you want to make a project from a smoker’s home or a musty-smelling barn or cellar find fit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available in transparent, gray or white, it adapts to your project. One coat is often enough, followed by a second if required – and then it’s time to let it dry thoroughly overnight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 Now the magic begins.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your preparation is complete, your piece of furniture is ready – and so are you. Now you can work with brush, paint and soul. Your creativity flows into every stroke, and the result will not only be beautiful, but a true masterpiece with depth, character and durability. Just the way you deserve it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
