Start by thoroughly cleaning the surface – ideally with a specially developed cleaner such as White Lightning, Pristin Clean or Terra Clean from Dixiebelle. This will remove dirt, grease and old residue so that the metallic paint can adhere optimally. If you are working over previously painted surfaces, make sure that the underlying paint is completely dry, clean and dust-free to achieve a flawless result.
Moonshine Metallics adhere to almost all surfaces: Wood, metal, glass, ceramics and even painted surfaces. Often neither sanding nor priming is necessary. However, for particularly smooth surfaces such as glass, metal or plastic, which are subject to more intensive use, it is advisable to sand the surface lightly or use an adhesive primer. This ensures better adhesion and long-lasting results.
As a general rule, sanding is rarely necessary, but a light sanding can optimize the adhesion of the paint and create an even more even finish.

Patience is required after the last brushstroke: give your Moonshine Metallics a longer drying time of 12 hours or preferably overnight. This resting time is crucial for the paint to set properly and for your project to turn out perfectly.
Moonshine Metallics already offer an integrated sealer and are ideal for many projects. Their shimmering sheen makes them the perfect choice for accents and elegant surfaces.
However, if you decide to apply an additional sealant, for example on surfaces subject to heavy use such as kitchen worktops, dining tables or outdoor projects, we recommend a lacquer such as Extra Coat or Gator Hide. These ensure maximum robustness and moisture resistance.
