Start by cleaning the surface thoroughly – ideally with a specially developed cleaner such as White Lightning, Pristin Clean or Terra Clean. This will remove dirt, grease and old residue so that the metallic paint can adhere optimally. If you are working over previously painted surfaces, make sure that the underlying paint is completely dry, clean and dust-free to achieve a flawless result.

Miss Lillian’s Metallic Paints adhere to almost all surfaces: Wood, metal, glass, ceramics and even painted surfaces. Often neither sanding nor priming is necessary. However, for particularly smooth surfaces such as glass, metal or plastic, which are subject to more intensive use, it is advisable to sand the surface lightly or use a primer. This ensures better adhesion and long-lasting results.

As a general rule, sanding is rarely necessary, but a light sanding can optimize the adhesion of the paint and create an even more even finish.

Before you start, stir the paint thoroughly so that all the ingredients are evenly distributed – this will give you a radiant result and show off your creative style to its best advantage!

Tips for the order

Brush: For a flat application with a brush, it is important to brush in one direction. This prevents unwanted reflections that can be caused by the metallic pigments – unless this effect is desired. Soft, synthetic brushes are particularly suitable for an even finish.
Roller: A fine microfiber roller is perfect for larger surfaces and ensures a flawless result.
Spray gun: For a particularly even and professional finish, you can also apply the Metallic Paints with a spray gun.

The technique is key Apply the paint in thin layers to achieve an even result. Patience is the key, especially with metallic paints: the first coat may appear slightly uneven – this is completely normal! It is better to apply several thin coats to bring out the full shine and brilliance of the metallic pigments.

Drying times and layers

Allow each coat to dry thoroughly ( approx. 4 hours depending on temperature and humidity) before applying the next one.
Two to three coats are sufficient for most projects, but you can apply as many as you need for your desired result.

Patience is required after the last brush stroke: Allow your Miss Lillian’s Metallic Paints a longer drying time of 12 hours or preferably overnight. This resting time is crucial for the paint to set properly and for your project to turn out perfectly.

Protection for your work

Miss Lillian’s Metallic Paints already offer an integrated sealer and are ideal for many projects. Their shimmering sheen makes them the perfect choice for accents and elegant surfaces.

However, if you decide to apply an additional sealant, for example on surfaces subject to heavy use such as kitchen worktops, dining tables or outdoor projects, we recommend a lacquer such as Extra Coat or Gator Hide. These ensure maximum robustness and moisture resistance.

Note, however, that an additional protective layer can change the original shine of Miss Lillian’s Metallic Paints. You can choose from different finishes to achieve the desired result:

Matt: For a modern and discreet look.
Satin finish: For an elegant, light sheen.

1. gentle cleaning

Avoid aggressive cleaning agents or scouring pads – these could damage the surface.
In most cases, a soft, slightly damp cloth is completely sufficient to remove dust or fingerprints. For heavier soiling, you can use a mild soap solution.

2. protection from moisture

If the object is in a damp environment (e.g. kitchen or bathroom), make sure that it is well sealed. If necessary, an additional varnish can be applied.
Do not leave spilled liquids for long and wipe them off immediately to avoid stains or damage.

3. no extreme load
