Clean the surface thoroughly to remove dust, grease and old residues.
In the case of wood or furniture, it is advisable to smooth out any unevenness by sanding.
If necessary, use a primer to improve adhesion.
The papers are semi-opaque; the color underneath affects the luminosity of the colors of the papers. Use a light color or white as a base for maximum luminosity and let the base color dry well.

3rd adhesive layer:

Apply an even layer of a high-quality decoupage glue or the Posh Chalk Infusor onto the prepared surface. It also works excellently with our sealers.
Work quickly and evenly so that the adhesive does not dry prematurely.
For larger papers, it is advisable to work in sections.

4. paper application:

Carefully place the decoupage paper on the adhesive layer. Start on one side and work your way slowly to avoid creases and air bubbles.
Paint the paper with a soft brusha squeegee or a piece of crumpled cling film, or work with a pin stick.
If an air bubble cannot be massaged out, you can remove it with our needle pin simply eliminate it.

5. sealing:

After drying, apply another layer of adhesive or a special sealer over the paper to protect and fix it. This ensures longevity and a professional finish.
For a sophisticated effect, you can apply Posh Chalk Pigments or wax over the surface.

6. drying time:

Allow the project to dry completely before you continue working on or decorating it. Allow sufficient time for this so that the paper can develop its full adhesion.

Allow your project a longer drying time of 24 hours or at least overnight. This resting time is crucial for the decoupage paper to set perfectly on the surface and for your work to turn out flawlessly.

1. gentle cleaning

Avoid aggressive cleaning agents or scouring pads – these could damage the seal.
In most cases, a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth is completely sufficient to remove dust or stains. For heavier soiling, you can use a mild soap solution.

2. protection from moisture

Even though many decoupage projects are sealed, it is recommended that objects in permanently damp environments (e.g. kitchen or bathroom) are additionally sealed with a suitable varnish.
Do not leave spilled liquids for long and wipe them up immediately to avoid possible damage.

3. no extreme load

For everyday furniture, we recommend using felt glides under heavy objects or decorations to prevent pressure marks.

4. refresh if necessary

If the surface loses its shine over time, you can carefully polish it with a soft cloth or apply a new layer of sealant to renew the protection.

5. protection from sunlight

Direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the colors of your decoupage project to fade.
To avoid this, set up your project in a place that is not constantly exposed to the sun or use UV-resistant sealants to protect the colors in the long term.
