Dixie Belle Gator Hide Satin is a water-based, transparent sealant for suitable surfaces. Satin provides a finish with a subtle silky sheen. Gator Hide can be used, for example, to provide additional protection for heavily used furniture surfaces. Follow the manufacturer’s current instructions regarding application, drying, and wear resistance.
Available in two sheen levels:
• Satin – subtle, soft sheen
• Eggshell – understated finish with a very slight sheen
• The surface must be clean, dry, and fully cured.
• If you’ve used chalk paint or other types of paint, let them dry completely before applying Gator Hide.

Gator Hide can be applied using various tools:
• Synthetic brush
• Sponge
• Applicator pad
• Foam roller
• Foam N Dandy Roller
Apply Gator Hide evenly. On wood, apply it in the direction of the grain.
When applying with a brush, maintain a “wet edge” and, if possible, avoid reworking areas that have already begun to dry to prevent visible brush marks and blistering.
According to the manufacturer, each coat should dry for about 2 hours. Before applying the next coat, lightly sand the surface (using fine-grit sandpaper, approx. 320–400 grit) and carefully remove the sanding dust. If the sandpaper becomes clogged or starts to smear, Gator Hide needs more drying time.
Dixie Belle recommends applying 3 thin coats. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s current instructions.
According to the manufacturer, the drying time between coats is about 2 hours; complete curing can take 21–30 days.
During the curing period, handle the surface as gently as possible and avoid heavy stress and prolonged contact with water.
Clean tools thoroughly with warm water and Scrubby Soap or a mild soap immediately after use.

✔ Apply several thin coats.
✔ Lightly sand between coats according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
✔ Do not apply in conditions of high humidity or very low temperatures.
✔ Avoid heavy loads and prolonged contact with water until the material has fully cured.

Care
Once fully cured, the surface sealed with Gator Hide can be cleaned as needed with a soft, damp cloth and a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, and harsh chemicals, as these can damage the coating.
According to the manufacturer, Gator Hide dries in about 2 hours and takes about 21 to 30 days to fully cure. Actual times may vary depending on room temperature, humidity, and application thickness. Handle the surface as gently as possible during the curing period and avoid standing water and heavy mechanical stress.
Spilled liquids should be wiped up promptly. Do not place hot objects directly on the coated surface; use appropriate coasters instead. Also, follow the manufacturer’s current care instructions.
