The IOD Decor ORLÉANS stamp combines classic ornaments and delicate flourishes into a French-inspired design. The motifs can be used individually, in part, or combined with one another on furniture and decorative objects. Size: approx. 30.5 × 30.5 cm (12″ × 12″).

IOD stamps are versatile decorative stamps for upcycling furniture, wall decor, fabrics, and creative DIY projects. Depending on the medium used and the appropriate surface, you can use paint or ink to create detailed patterns, ornaments, and designs on furniture, walls, textiles, and other creative projects.

According to the manufacturer, the flexible IOD stamps are made of food-safe material and, when used with stamp sets specifically designed for this purpose, can also be used to decorate food items such as dough, fondant, or chocolate. Use separate stamp sets for food and for paints or other craft materials, and do not mix these uses.

IOD Decor Orléans Stamp

Orléans offers classic ornaments and curving embellishments for French-inspired furniture, decor, and creative projects. The motifs can be used as individual accents or for larger ornamental designs.

Preparation for IOD decorative stamps:

  • According to the manufacturer, IOD decorative stamps are made of food-safe material. Use separate sets for food and for paints or other craft supplies, and do not mix these uses.
  • The stamps are not heat-resistant and are not suitable for applications with high temperatures.
  • Not dishwasher safe! High temperatures can damage the material.
  • Before using the stamp for the first time, IOD recommends lightly sanding the stamp surface in two directions using very fine sandpaper. This helps the paint or ink adhere better to the stamp surface and prevents it from beading off as easily.
  • Carefully peel the sticker off the transparent backing sheet.

Step-by-step application of the IOD decorative stamps:

  1. Select mounting method:
    • Large mounting block: Suitable for flat surfaces, such as fabric or paper on a flat work surface.
    • Free-form embossing: Use the transparent film that the stamp came on as a flexible backing. This method is particularly suitable for furniture, walls, or slightly uneven surfaces.
    • Without a mounting block: For highly curved or irregular surfaces, the stamp can be used without a mounting block and carefully adapted to the respective shape.
  2. Stamping without holder – important note:
    • Make sure that your fingers do not stick to the stamp surface.
    • Accidentally lifting the stamp while stamping can result in uneven impressions or unwanted ink or color smudges.
  3. Cleanliness:
    • Regardless of the mounting method, both the back of the stamp and the mount used should be clean and free of dust to ensure that the stamp adheres securely to the mount.
  4. Suitable media for IOD decorative stamps:

    Color:

    • Paint can be used, for example, to create stamped designs on furniture, walls, and decorative items.
    • Apply a small amount of paint to a suitable surface and roll it out evenly using a dense foam roller.
    • Apply the ink evenly to the design side of the stamp, and use even, light pressure when stamping.
    • The amount of paint and coverage may vary depending on the paint and the surface. It’s best to test the application on a suitable test area first.

    Ink:

    • IOD decorative inks are intended for use with IOD decorative stamps. For other inks, follow the respective manufacturer’s instructions and check their suitability for the desired surface.
    • Ink allows for the reproduction of fine details; the application of ink can appear more transparent than when using paint.
    • Empty ink pads can be used to hold the ink and transfer it to the stamp. Use a separate ink pad for each different color.

Sealing:

Whether and how your stamped project should be sealed depends on the medium used, the surface, and its intended use. For furniture, high-traffic areas, or objects that are touched regularly, a suitable sealant can provide additional protection. Depending on the medium used and the desired finish, options include wax or a suitable varnish. For purely decorative projects or work done with ink, an additional sealant isn’t always necessary. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the paints, inks, and sealants you use.

Care & cleaning of your IOD decor stamps:

  • If possible, clean the stamps immediately after use.
  • As long as the paint or ink has not yet dried, any residue can be carefully removed with a suitable damp cloth.
  • Alternatively, the stamps can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap.
  • A special stamp cleaner may be required for permanent inks or fabric inks.
  • Use only cleaning agents that are suitable for clear stamps or the material used in IOD decorative stamps.
  • After cleaning, let the stamps dry completely, then place them back on the transparent backing sheet for storage.
