Miracle Medium™ Oil Paint Medium MM1 is a solvent-free, vegan oil medium from Michael Harding that improves the flow, transparency and gloss of oil paints while accelerating drying. It is particularly suitable for glazes, fine detail work and controlled layer painting.
Refined Linseed Oil is suitable both for direct mixing with oil paints and for working with dry pigments. It is a classic, proven binder for oil painting and supports traditional painting techniques as well as contemporary working methods.

Refined Linseed Oil from Michael Harding is an alkali-refined, light linseed oil extracted from flax seed and used in many of Michael Harding’s artist oil paints. It has been developed to make oil paints smoother, increase gloss and transparency and reduce visible brush marks.
During the drying process, the oil provides a particularly strong and resistant color film and thus contributes significantly to the durability and longevity of a painting. Due to its natural color, too much oil can lead to slight yellowing in the long term, which is why we recommend using it sparingly.

Careful project preparation is the basis for stable, long-lasting results in oil painting. The painting surface, colors and working method should be consciously coordinated before you start painting.
The surface must be suitable and prepared. Canvas, wood or painting boards should be primed to ensure even adhesion and to prevent the binder from penetrating.
The choice of materials is also crucial. High-quality oil paints, suitable media and clean tools facilitate controlled work. It is advisable to plan the color palette in advance and consider properties such as transparency, pigment type and oil content.
Thoughtful preparation creates calm in the process and gives you the freedom to concentrate fully on color, expression and artistic decisions.
Refined Linseed Oil is mixed directly with the oil paint to increase its fluidity, transparency and gloss. Even small amounts are enough to significantly change the consistency of the paint. An excessive amount of oil should be avoided, as this greatly delays drying and can lead to yellowing or wrinkling in the long term.
When working according to the “fat on lean” principle, linseed oil is applied gradually to the upper layers of paint. The first layers should be kept as oil-free as possible. In the middle and upper layers, the oil content can be slowly increased to ensure flexibility and stability of the paint film.
The paint should always be applied thinly, especially with oil-rich mixtures. Each coat must be allowed to dry completely before applying the next. Refined Linseed Oil deliberately extends the drying time and thus enables smooth, controlled work.
No sealing is required during the painting process. A final varnish should only be applied once the finished oil painting is completely dry. Depending on the layer thickness and paint application, this can take several months to a year.
Finished works should be protected from direct sunlight, high humidity and strong temperature fluctuations. A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for care and cleaning. Damp cleaning agents or chemical substances should be avoided.
