  • Clean the surface thoroughly to remove dust, grease and old residues.
  • In the case of wood or furniture, it is advisable to smooth out any unevenness by sanding.
  • If necessary, use a primer to improve adhesion.
  • The papers are semi-opaque; the color underneath affects the brightness of the paper’s colors. Use a light color or white as a base for bright color reproduction, and let the base color dry thoroughly.

How to make your decoupage project a complete success

  • If an air bubble cannot be massaged out, you can remove it with our needle pin simply eliminate it.

  • For an elegant finish, you can apply Posh Chalk Pigments using a suitable medium or wax. When handling pigment powder, avoid creating dust and follow the safety instructions.

1. gentle cleaning

  • Avoid aggressive cleaning agents or scouring pads – these could damage the seal.
  • In most cases, a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth is all you need to remove dust or stains. Do not clean the surface until it has fully cured. First, test a mild soap solution on an inconspicuous area and follow the care instructions for the coating used.

2. protection from moisture

  • In cases of exposure to moisture, check whether the substrate and the entire coating are suitable for such conditions. An additional coat of paint does not automatically make the object suitable for environments with persistent moisture.
  • Do not leave spilled liquids for long and wipe them up immediately to avoid possible damage.

3. no extreme load

  • For everyday furniture, we recommend using felt glides under heavy objects or decorations to prevent pressure marks.

4. refresh if necessary

  • When reapplying the sealant, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Before polishing or reapplying, test the product’s suitability and compatibility on an inconspicuous area.

5. protection from sunlight

  • Direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the colors of your decoupage project to fade.
  • If possible, set up your project in a location that is not constantly exposed to direct sunlight. Any additional sealant should be specifically designed to protect the underlying paint from UV radiation; the UV resistance of the varnish alone does not guarantee this effect.
