How to Use Gold Size: Gold Size is a water-based adhesive used as a bonding agent for metal leaf or bronze pigments. Apply a thin, even layer with a fine brush to the surface you want to gild. Be careful not to apply the adhesive too thickly.

Immediately after application, Gold Size initially appears white. As it dries, the color changes: the adhesive first takes on a violet hue before becoming transparent. Depending on the room temperature and the thickness of the layer, this process can take up to about 15 minutes.

Once the Gold Size is clear, you can apply the metal leaf. Carefully place it on the prepared surface and press it down gently. Take special care when working with delicate details or stencil designs.

Once the metal foil is adhered, you can gently remove any excess material with a soft, dry cloth or a very soft brush and carefully smooth out the edges.

Depending on the project, the gold-plated surface can then be further treated or protected with a suitable wax or varnish. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Cleaning the tools: Clean brushes and tools thoroughly with water immediately after use while the Gold Size is still damp.
