Miracle Medium™ Oil Paint Medium MM1 from Michael Harding is a solvent-free, plant-based and vegan oil medium that has been specially developed to specifically improve the flow behavior, transparency, gloss and depth of oil paints. The formula is based on a combination of Miracle Medium™ and linseed oil stand oil and combines smooth application with a stable paint film.
MM1 facilitates the mixing, blending and application of oil paints and ensures an even, smooth surface with a slightly glossy finish. At the same time, the medium supports controlled, accelerated drying, which makes it particularly suitable for textured layer painting, glazing techniques and precise detail work.
Thanks to its solvent-free formulation, MM1 is pleasant to use and is also suitable for studios, living rooms and workshops. The pigment strength and color depth are fully retained, while transparency and luminosity are specifically increased.
Careful project preparation is the basis for stable, long-lasting results in oil painting. The painting surface, colors and working method should be consciously coordinated before you start painting.
The surface must be suitable and prepared. Canvas, wood or painting boards should be primed to ensure even adhesion and to prevent the binder from penetrating.
The choice of materials is also crucial. High-quality oil paints, suitable media and clean tools facilitate controlled work. It is advisable to plan the color palette in advance and consider properties such as transparency, pigment type and oil content.
Thoughtful preparation creates calm in the process and gives you the freedom to concentrate fully on color, expression and artistic decisions.
Miracle Medium™ Oil Paint Medium MM1 is mixed directly with oil paints to specifically increase fluidity, transparency and gloss. Place a small amount of the medium on the palette next to the paint and mix in with a brush or painting knife.
Start with a mixing ratio of approximately 1 part medium to 4 parts paint. The total proportion of medium should not exceed 5-10 %, as a higher dosage can impair the stability of the paint film. The medium increases the fluidity of the paint and is particularly suitable for glazes and thin, luminous layers of paint.
Application reveals an even, controlled flow of color that facilitates fine transitions, precise lines and transparent layering. For multi-layered work, allow each layer to dry completely before applying the next to maintain clarity and depth.
To clean, first wipe off any excess paint. Tools can then be cleaned with Miracle Medium or a suitable solvent and then washed out with water and mild soap.
No sealing is required during the painting process. A final varnish should only be applied once the finished oil painting is completely dry. Depending on the layer thickness and paint application, this can take several months to a year.
Finished works should be protected from direct sunlight, high humidity and strong temperature fluctuations. A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for care and cleaning. Damp cleaning agents or chemical substances should be avoided.
