Miracle Medium MM0 by Michael Harding is a solvent-free, odorless, vegan, and plant-based oil medium developed as an alternative to traditional solvents such as turpentine. It can be used to thin oil paints, increase transparency, create glazes, and clean tools.
This medium improves the paint’s flow and workability, allowing for controlled, even, and fine applications of paint. Miracle Medium is particularly suitable for glazes, fine detail work, and layered paint application.
Depending on the dosage, Miracle Medium can moderately extend the drying time of oil-based paint. According to the manufacturer, adding about 5–10% to the paint is sufficient to achieve the desired application properties.
Careful project preparation lays a solid foundation for controlled paint application in oil painting. Even before you begin painting, you should ensure that the painting surface, paints, and technique are well-coordinated.
The surface should be suitable for oil painting and properly prepared. Canvas, wood, or painting panels are usually primed with a suitable primer to prepare the surface for further work and to minimize excessive penetration of the binder into the substrate.
The choice of materials also plays an important role. Suitable oil paints, appropriate painting media, and clean tools make it easier to work with precision. It is advisable to plan the color palette in advance and take into account characteristics such as transparency, pigment type, and oil content.

Miracle Medium MM0 can be used in a variety of ways. Before picking up the paint, the brush can be lightly dipped into the medium to achieve the desired consistency and a smoother flow.
To thin the paint, mix a very small amount of the medium directly into the oil paint. Miracle Medium MM0 should be used sparingly. Start with a few drops and, according to the manufacturer, keep the proportion of medium to a maximum of 5–10% of the paint volume. A higher dosage can affect the paint film and drying behavior.
This medium is suitable for glazing techniques, fine detail work, and controlled layering. It allows for the even application of transparent layers of paint. When working with multiple layers, the underlying layer should be allowed to set or dry sufficiently before continuing.
Miracle Medium MM0 can also be used to clean brushes. After painting, rinse off any excess paint with the medium, and then clean the brushes with water and mild soap.
No sealing is required during the painting process. A final varnish should only be applied once the finished oil painting is completely dry. Depending on the layer thickness and paint application, this can take several months to a year.
Finished pieces should be protected from direct sunlight, high humidity, and extreme temperature fluctuations. Use a soft, dry cloth for care and cleaning. Avoid using damp cleaning agents or chemical cleaners.
