How to Use Posh Chalk Stencils – A Step-by-Step Guide to Designing

Using Posh Chalk stencils is a creative process that delivers stunning results with a variety of colors and mediums. Here is a step-by-step guide to achieve the best results:

1. preparation of the surface:

• Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the surface to be designed of dust, grease and other impurities.
• Smoothing: If necessary, remove unevenness by sanding to create a smooth base.
• Primer: If necessary, apply a suitable primer to improve the adhesion of the subsequent coats of paint.

2. placement of the template:

• Position: Place the stencil in the desired position. Secure it with masking tape to prevent it from slipping. Alternatively, you can use a removable stencil adhesive (spray adhesive) to hold the stencil securely in place, or simply hold the stencil in position by hand.

3rd color application:

• Color choice: Posh Chalk stencils are compatible with a wide range of colors such as chalk paints, acrylic paints and metallic paints.
• Technique: Use a stencil brush or sponge to apply the paint in a dabbing motion. Be careful not to use too much paint to avoid undercutting the stencil.

4. 3D stenciling (raised stenciling):

• Material: Pasty media such as textured pastes can be used for raised designs.
• Application: Apply the paste evenly over the stencil using a palette knife. Carefully remove the stencil while the paste is still wet and allow the design to dry completely.

5. post-processing:

• Leave to dry: Allow the paint or paste to dry completely.
• Sealing: A clear lacquer or wax can be applied to protect the design.

6. cleaning the stencil:

• Clean the stencil immediately after use with warm water and mild soap to remove any paint residue and prepare it for future use.
