Grace on Design Stencils – How to Use Them Step by Step

With Grace on Design stencils, you can use different colors and media to create a variety of decorative effects. Here’s a step-by-step guide for your stencil project:

1. preparation of the surface:

• Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the surface to be designed of dust, grease and other impurities.
• Smoothing: If necessary, uneven areas can be smoothed by sanding.
• Primer: Depending on the surface and the paint product used, a suitable primer may be required or recommended. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

2. placement of the template:

• Positioning: Place the stencil in the desired location. You can secure it, for example, with painter’s tape or a suitable removable stencil adhesive, or carefully hold it in place with your hand while applying the design.

3rd color application:

• Color Selection: Grace on Design stencils can be used with a variety of suitable paints and media, such as chalk paint, acrylic paint, or metallic paint.
• Technique: Use a stencil brush or sponge, for example, and apply the paint sparingly using dabbing motions. Too much paint can seep under the stencil.

4. 3D stenciling (raised stenciling):

• Materials: For raised designs, suitable paste-like media, such as texturing pastes, can be used.
• Directions: Apply the paste over the stencil using a spatula. Carefully remove the stencil while the paste is still wet, and let the design dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions for the product you are using.

5. post-processing:

• Let it dry: Allow the paint or paste you used to dry or cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Sealing: Depending on the paint or design system used and the expected level of wear and tear, the design can be sealed with a suitable clear coat or wax.

6. cleaning the stencil:

• Clean the stencil after use according to the manufacturer’s instructions and in a manner appropriate for the paint or textured medium used. For water-based products, paint residue can usually be removed with warm water and mild soap.
