MM2 Quick Dry Dammar Glaze is a solvent-free, vegan glazing medium from Michael Harding to increase transparency, gloss and depth. It enables quick-drying, high-gloss glazes and supports a controlled layer build-up in oil painting.

MM2 Quick Dry Dammar Glaze by Michael Harding is a solvent-free, vegan glazing medium for transparent paint layers and glazes. It combines dammar resin with a modern, solvent-free formula and was developed for building up transparent layers of paint one coat at a time.
This medium improves paint flow, increases transparency, and creates a high-gloss finish. According to the manufacturer, the cobalt-free drier it contains accelerates the drying of the paint layers.
MM2 is particularly well-suited for glazing techniques, fine detail work, and building up transparent layers of paint one by one. Thin layers can be applied with precision, allowing for faster progress between individual layers of paint.
Careful project preparation lays a solid foundation for controlled paint application in oil painting. Even before you begin painting, you should ensure that the painting surface, paints, and technique are well-coordinated.
The surface should be suitable for oil painting and properly prepared. Canvas, wood, or painting panels are usually primed with a suitable primer to prepare the surface for further work and to minimize excessive penetration of the binder into the substrate.
The choice of materials also plays an important role. Suitable oil paints, appropriate painting media, and clean tools make it easier to work with precision. It is advisable to plan the color palette in advance and take into account characteristics such as transparency, pigment type, and oil content.

MM2 Quick Dry Dammar Glaze is mixed directly with the oil paint to specifically enhance transparency, gloss, and flow. Place a small amount of the medium on the palette next to the paint and apply it sparingly.
A mixing ratio of about 1 part medium to 4 parts paint is a good starting point. According to the manufacturer, the total proportion of medium should not exceed 5–10 percent.
Paint mixed with MM2 is particularly suitable for thin, transparent glazes and produces a high-gloss finish. The cobalt-free drying agent it contains accelerates drying compared to unmixed oil paint.
Each coat should be allowed to dry thoroughly between applications. MM2 can also be used for fine details and for applying paint in a transparent, precise manner.
Wipe off excess paint and medium after painting. Tools can be cleaned with Miracle Medium, turpentine or White Spirit and then washed out with water and mild soap.
No sealing is required during the painting process. A final varnish should only be applied once the finished oil painting is completely dry. Depending on the layer thickness and paint application, this can take several months to a year.
Finished pieces should be protected from direct sunlight, high humidity, and extreme temperature fluctuations. Use a soft, dry cloth for care and cleaning. Avoid using damp cleaning agents or chemical cleaners.
